John Shaw's Nature Photography Field Guide

I recommend pretty much anything by John Shaw. This is a great book on techniques, filled with beautiful images.

Another great book, especially if you're interested in turning professional. This covers everything from how to get started and what equipment you might need to how to find clients and price your work.

Living Planet : Preserving Edens of the Earth

Amazing photography by Frans Lanting, Galen Rowell, and David Doubilet, featuring images from all around the globe. The World Wildlife Fund commissioned these three talented photographers to provide a showcase of the "Global 200", two hundred unique ecosystems that are in special need of protection. Proceeds from this book go to the World Wildlife Fund to help them continue their conservation work

A Celebration of the Natural Heritage of the San Francisco Bay Area. With photography by Galen Rowell and Michael Sewell, a beautiful collection of images from the major U.S. urban area that I happen to call home. There's a lot more nature here than you'd think.
